Tips for Making the Best Sirloin Tip Roast

Sirloin tip roast is a lean cut of beef that comes from the rear leg of the cow. It is also known as round tip roast or knuckle roast. It is best cooked low and slow in the oven to tenderize the meat and make it juicy. Here are some tips for making the best sirloin tip roast:

  • Choose a roast that has some marbling or fat throughout for more flavor and moisture.

  • Let the roast come to room temperature before cooking for even browning and doneness.

  • Sear the roast on high heat to create a crust that locks in the juices and adds flavor.

  • Add some aromatics like onion, garlic and bay leaves to enhance the taste of the meat and gravy.

  • Baste the roast occasionally with the pan juices to keep it moist and tender.

  • Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The roast is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F for medium-rare, 160 degrees F for medium or 170 degrees F for well-done.

  • Let the roast rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain for easier carving and serving.
